Jira Cloud for Sheets Alternatives: 8 Options Compared

Updated · 7 min read

The best Jira Cloud for Sheets alternative depends on what broke for you. If you need a free scheduled import, start with Jira Data Fetcher or an Apps Script; if you need a schedule backed by a paid vendor, Coupler.io, Coefficient and Sheet Sync for Jira all refresh on a timer; and if you need edits to flow back into Jira, you need a two-way tool instead.

Below are eight import options compared on what actually matters for reports, with prices and limits as listed in October 2026.

Why people look for an alternative

Atlassian’s add-on is free and widely installed: 3M+ installs on the Google Workspace Marketplace, with a 3.4-star average from 214 ratings as of October 2026. Its listing hasn’t been updated since December 16, 2024.

The complaints cluster in a few places. About half of its 117 written reviews describe it breaking: blank sidebars, authentication errors, schedules that stop. Since the December 2024 update, users have also reported missing descriptions, acceptance criteria and worklog fields. Atlassian’s tracker has open bugs for scheduled updates that don’t run (API-563, open since 2022) and for schedules that fail silently when a token expires (API-784).

If you haven’t tried the fixes yet, start with our Jira Cloud for Sheets troubleshooting guide. Some problems, such as expired schedules, take two minutes to solve.

What to check in a replacement

Before you compare prices, decide which of these you need:

  • Refresh schedule. Manual, daily or hourly. Many free tiers are manual only.
  • Failure visibility. Does anyone find out when a refresh fails, or does the sheet just go stale?
  • Field coverage. Custom fields, descriptions, worklogs, sprint, parent, and time in status if you report on cycle time. (You can also calculate time in status in Google Sheets yourself with a free script.)
  • Row limits. Free tiers often cap at 100 to 500 rows per import.
  • Whose account runs the query. Some tools run every query through one person’s Jira login, which matters when that person leaves.
  • Price unit. Per user, per Jira site, or by rows and runs. Per-user pricing grows with the team; per-site pricing doesn’t.
  • Where your data goes. Some add-ons process data on the vendor’s servers; others say they run inside Google Apps Script. Read each privacy policy if that matters to your security team.

The 8 options at a glance

All prices are list prices from vendor pages or marketplace listings in October 2026. “Write-back” means sending sheet edits to Jira.

1. Jira’s CSV export

Not an add-on, but it’s the fallback every team should know. Run your JQL in Filters > Search work items, choose Export, pick a CSV option, and import the file with File > Import in Sheets. The asynchronous export handles up to 10,000 work items.

Good for: one-off snapshots and as a backup when an add-on fails before a meeting. Not good for: anything that has to stay current. Full steps are in our guide to exporting Jira to Google Sheets.

2. Jira Data Fetcher for Google Sheets

A free add-on from Extensions For Fun. Its listing describes OAuth sign-in, custom fields, a daily, weekly or monthly schedule, time in status with business-hours metrics, changelog data, and an append-only history mode that keeps old rows instead of overwriting them. It had 488 installs and a 5.0-star average from 5 ratings in October 2026, and the listing was last updated in March 2026.

Good for: free scheduled reports, cycle-time and time-in-status analysis. Watch for: a small install base, so you’re relying on a small vendor. There’s no hourly option listed.

3. Issuegrid

A new entrant: its listing appeared on October 29, 2026. It imports by JQL or saved filter using Jira’s newer search API and says nothing is stored server-side. The free tier allows 500 rows per import, one saved import per spreadsheet, and manual refresh. A Pro tier with unlimited rows, hourly refresh and time in status is listed as “coming soon”.

Good for: small manual imports today. Watch for: no scheduled refresh until Pro ships, and no track record yet.

4. Sheet Sync for Jira (Cody Labs)

An import-and-refresh add-on listed in July 2026. It supports JQL and saved filters, custom fields, pagination through large results, and scheduled refresh. Free: one saved import, 500 rows, manual refresh. Pro: $20/month per Jira site with unlimited imports and hourly, daily or weekly refresh.

Good for: teams that want per-site pricing for a straightforward scheduled import. Watch for: it’s import-only, and it’s young (3 installs in October 2026). Don’t confuse it with SheetSync, covered in the two-way guide.

5. Coupler.io

A general data connector with Jira as one of hundreds of sources. You pick Jira, enter a JQL query or a saved filter ID, and choose a Google Sheets destination. Plans as listed in October 2026:

  • Free: manual refresh, 100 rows per run.
  • Starter: $32/month, or $24/month billed annually. Daily refresh, 5,000 rows per run.
  • Active: $132/month, or $99/month billed annually. Daily refresh.
  • Pro: $259/month, or $199/month billed annually. Hourly refresh.

Good for: teams that also pull other sources into the same sheets. Watch for: hourly refresh sits on the Pro plan, and the Jira page describes one-way export only.

6. Coefficient

Another multi-source connector, with JQL import and hourly, daily or weekly scheduling. Free is manual only. Starter is $49/month for one user with daily refresh. Pro is $99 per user per month for up to five users with hourly refresh. Its pricing FAQ says exports are “currently available on Salesforce and SQL connectors”, so treat it as import-only for Jira.

Good for: teams already using Coefficient for CRM or database data. Watch for: per-user pricing adds up for a team-wide report.

7. API Connector (Mixed Analytics)

A generic REST client for Sheets with over 1M installs. You build the Jira request yourself: URL, authentication, pagination. The free tier allows 100 requests a month, and scheduling is a paid feature. We couldn’t verify current paid prices because the vendor’s pricing page didn’t load in October 2026.

Good for: people comfortable with APIs who want a UI instead of code. Watch for: older Jira examples use the removed /rest/api/3/search endpoint. Use /rest/api/3/search/jql, which pages with nextPageToken.

8. Apps Script and the Jira REST API

A script bound to your sheet can call Jira’s search API on a time-driven trigger, hourly or daily, for free. You control every column. You also own the maintenance: Atlassian API tokens now expire after at most a year, and Google limits each run to 6 minutes. A working script is in our export guide.

Good for: teams with someone who can maintain a short script. Watch for: the token lives in the script’s properties, which anyone who can edit the sheet can read.

Which alternative should you pick?

  • You need a free schedule and can live with daily refresh: Jira Data Fetcher.
  • You need hourly refresh with no vendor bill: Apps Script.
  • You want per-site pricing for a plain scheduled import: Sheet Sync for Jira.
  • You already pay for a multi-source connector: add Jira to Coupler.io or Coefficient.
  • You only need it before each quarterly review: CSV export.
  • You also want to edit Jira from the sheet: see Jira Google Sheets two-way sync options, which covers Unito, Mobility Stream, SheetSync and Project Aid.

Switch without breaking your reports

Most of the pain in switching tools is formulas that point at the wrong cells afterward. Before you switch:

  1. Move every formula off the raw import tab. Summaries should read the raw tab with XLOOKUP, COUNTIFS or QUERY, matching on issue key.
  2. Write down the column order your formulas expect, and set the new tool’s columns in the same order.
  3. Run the old and new imports side by side on separate tabs for a week and compare row counts.
  4. Then point the summary tab at the new raw tab, and remove the old import.

Rowduet

Rowduet is a Google Sheets add-on for Jira Cloud built for this exact switch: JQL import with every field you report on, hourly or daily refresh, an email when a refresh fails, and a flat price with no per-seat fees ($29/month for Reporting). We make it, so it’s left out of the comparison above. If it fits what you’re looking for, see how it works.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free alternative to Jira Cloud for Sheets?

For a one-off export, Jira's own CSV export is free and handles up to 10,000 work items. For a free scheduled import, Jira Data Fetcher for Google Sheets offers daily, weekly or monthly refresh, and an Apps Script that calls the Jira REST API can run hourly at no cost if you can maintain it.

Is there a Jira Cloud for Sheets alternative that writes changes back to Jira?

Yes, but none of the import-focused tools in this list do. Unito, Mobility Stream, SheetSync and Project Aid offer some form of write-back. They are compared in our two-way sync guide.

Are Sheet Sync for Jira and SheetSync the same product?

No. Sheet Sync for Jira is an import-only add-on by Cody Labs priced per Jira site. SheetSync (sheetsync.dev, listed as Sheets Sync for JIRA) is a different product by a Railflow company that also pushes edits back to Jira.

Do these alternatives work with Jira Server or Data Center?

Most Sheets add-ons in this list are built for Jira Cloud. Check each listing before you install; CSV exports and REST API scripts work on any deployment you can reach.
